HOPE VI Homeownership Program

Covington, KY, April 25, 2016 – The Housing Authority of Covington recently sold two of nine newly constructed homes in East Covington.  This marks a first in the agency’s history that single-family homes were built new and available for purchase.

The homes were developed by the Housing Authority of Covington and constructed by the Century Construction Company.  The homes reflect the architectural character of the single family homes in the surrounding neighborhoods while providing modern, open living spaces and amenities.  Every home includes energy efficient appliances, HVAC equipment, and lighting.  Exteriors are designed with weather resistant, low maintenance materials, including brick, vinyl siding, low E/dual pane vinyl windows and a minimum 20 year roofing warranty.  The one and two story designs range in size from 1200-1400 square feet.

Thanks to funding provided by the HUD/HOPE VI Jacob Price Revitalization Grant 2009 and the City of Covington/HOME Funds, both down payment assistance and zero interest, forgivable second mortgage loans are available to qualified buyers.  Eligible applicants must qualify by income and meet other established criteria.

The nine new homes were built on East Robbins and East 10th Streets in Covington and completed early in 2016.  Our first two homebuyers are now enjoying their brand new homes, just in time for Spring!
