Apartments operated by the Housing Authority of Covington are
considered 'conventional public housing units'. We are not a Section 8
landlord, nor do we administer any Section 8 programs*. Tenants are charged
a monthly rent that does not exceed 30% of their adjusted income. In
addition to tenant rents, the Housing Authority also receives an operating
subsidy and a capital grant contribution for each of these units. Because
our average tenant rent tends to be in the $150 range, we are heavily dependant
on the federal government to provide this type of gap financing. A small
amount of income is also generated by leasing space atop our senior hi-rise
building to cellular phone providers.
*New in 2008! - The City of Covington's Section
8 Program staff is now housed at our main administrative offices.
Interested persons may now apply for Section 8 assistance at 2300
Madison Avenue. Before an application can be filled out, the
following items are needed:
-
Picture ID's for all adult household members
-
Birth Certificates for all household members
-
Social Security cards for all household members
-
Verification of residency - if you live in Kenton
County
