Organization

The Housing Authority of Covington, Kentucky is monitored by an oversight Board of Commissioners. The Board consists of five appointed members. Appointments are confirmed by the City Commission. No more than two appointed members of the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners may be of the same political party. Appointees serve four year terms with no limit on the number of terms that may be served.

The Community Housing Resource Group is the name selected by residents and staff for the umbrella organization which was formed in December, 2006. The Consortium Agreement which formed the Community Housing Resource Group was entered into by and between the City of Covington and the Housing Authority of Covington on December 1, 2007 and had a term of three (3) years. The Agreement is renewable for an additional three-year period subject to agreement and approval of the participants.

The benefits of forming this consortium includes unified oversight of two housing entities resulting in increased coordination and an immediate savings in salary and benefits, potential One Stop Shop for affordable housing, reduction in administrative overhead, potential to secure additional resources that would be used to renovate underutilized or dilapidated buildings and to begin to address the continued reduction in HUD funding through the elimination of duplicate duties and responsibilites.
